- Open Safari and go to theunbeatenpath.org/app.
- Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (top right on iPad).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add. The Unbeaten Path icon now sits on your home screen, ready to open like any app.
- Open Chrome and go to theunbeatenpath.org/app.
- Tap the three dots at the top right of Chrome to open the menu.
- Scroll down the menu, past Find in page, Translate and Show Reading mode, until you see Install and create shortcut. Tap it.
- Choose Install, not Create shortcut (a shortcut only opens a Chrome tab). Tap Install again to confirm. The Unbeaten Path icon appears on your home screen and in your app list.
Why isn’t it in the App Store or Google Play?
The Unbeaten Path app is a web app. It installs straight from your browser, takes almost no space, updates itself automatically whenever a new essay is published, and never asks for your personal details.
I don’t see “Add to Home Screen”.
On iPhone, make sure you opened the link in Safari, not inside another app such as X or WhatsApp. Tap the compass or “Open in Safari” icon first. On Android, open the link in Chrome, tap the three dots ⋮ and scroll down the menu: Install and create shortcut sits near the bottom, below Show Reading mode.
How do I remove it?
Press and hold the icon on your home screen, then choose Remove App (iPhone) or Uninstall (Android).
